Workplace Description
SciLifeLab (www.scilifelab.se), founded in 2010, is a hub for life science research in Sweden and a collaboration between Swedish universities.

The appointed person will work at SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC), which is responsible for IT issues and research data management for SciLifeLab's technology platforms and other SciLifeLab-organized programs and activities, including the national research program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS). We have a national mandate and operate services for life science data and e-infrastructure, as well as issues related to FAIR, open science, and data-driven research, in strong collaboration with national and international actors. Here, you will have the opportunity to actively influence how IT is integrated into future health and environmental research, and work for openness, reproducibility, and maximum scientific impact for the large amounts of research data generated in the field. You will work with researchers, data engineers, data stewards, and software developers in a rapidly growing, dynamic, and progressive team with a leading role in the country. The position is located at Lund University, within SciLifeLab Lund's organizational unit, with line reporting directly to its director. The work is led by the Director of SciLifeLab Data Centre.

Tasks and Responsibilities
SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC) is seeking a Manager for our Business Area for Scientific Data Services. The area currently employs approximately 20 software developers and data engineers located at several of our partner universities, focusing on the development, operation, and support of data services with scientific and bioinformatic content, e.g., for AI models and computational applications, FAIR sharing of research data for infectious diseases, biodiversity, image data, cell and molecular biology, etc. The services are developed based on needs from SciLifeLab's users and as part of SciLifeLab Data Centre's mandate as digital infrastructure. The work targets users within national infrastructure as well as the Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) program and Swedish life science researchers in general. A focus for the coming years is to build common integrative services for multimodal data generated at SciLifeLab's infrastructure platforms.

As the Manager of the area, you will be responsible for personnel and economic matters for the business area, be part of our management group, and coordinate the work within the area with other business areas at DC. This includes, for example, areas for research data management, IT, and service management. You will also have a key role in DC's strategic work within SciLifeLab for digital infrastructure, and in our collaboration with university administration, other national infrastructures (e.g., NAISS, SUNET, and SND), as well as international partners (e.g., EMBL, CSC, CERN, and VIB). DC has a strongly research-driven operation, and you will specifically develop this part of our business.

You are expected to have long and international experience as a manager and researcher at infrastructures for bioinformatics and life science, and to be able to take an active and driving role in developing and leading operations and organization within DC. You need to have strong personal experience as a researcher. A high ability to collaborate and communicate is required both as part of the management, towards collaboration partners, and towards user groups.

The location is at Lund University, and you will specifically develop DC's national collaboration in Lund and southern Sweden, but your role is a clear national mandate as a manager and requires good presence and the ability to lead a nationally distributed operation.
